The Gold Guys Review

These reviews are based on our personal experiences with the individual cash for gold companies and our rating reflects our feelings regarding our transactions with them. Your experience with the gold refiner/dealer may fare better or worse. But we always try to give the most accurate representation of what you are likely to find.

It is always a good idea to do your own research and find the company that works for you. We do these reviews because it is important for anyone looking to sell their gold to understand that very few online gold buyers will actually give you what your gold is worth. You would be surprised how many cash for gold businesses payout less than half the current price of gold. And not everyone has the time to properly look through and research the hundreds of gold buyers that are out there today. We hope these reviews will give you an idea of what to expect and will help you to make a wise decision.

The Gold Guys Review

Cash Payout:  ★★½☆☆

Customer Service:  ★★☆☆☆

Turn Around Time:  ★★☆☆☆

Shipping Insurance:  ★★☆☆☆

Overall:  ★★☆☆☆

The Gold Guys are yet another company that boasts about being independently ranked #1 in the country. This ranking does not come from a reliable source, and this is an overused tactic by many gold buyers. The Gold Guys have been in business since 2008 and BBB accredited since 2009 holding a B+ rating due to 4 complaints. They buy silver, platinum, gold, and diamonds ½ carat or larger.

Like many companies, The Gold Guys claim to pay you more for your gold but do not have a pricing chart to prove this. You should always be cautious when dealing with a company that doesn’t advertise their payouts, because often times it is really low. They promote they are independently ranked #1, but the site on which they are ranked compares them with other less than reputable companies.

The Gold Guys pay for shipping, but they only offer $750 worth of shipping insurance, which is pretty low considering what other companies offer. We looked over the site to see what their money back guarantee was, and it was hidden for good reason. Tucked away in their Terms & Conditions you will find you only have 3 days after receiving a check from them to request a refund. That is really no way to treat your customers, especially if you promote be independently ranked #1.

To be fair we tested The Gold Guys, and weren’t surprised with the disappointing service and payout. We called their customer service to get an estimate, and the agent just asked us to send it in. We sent in what we calculated to be about $672 worth of gold, and the check we received was for $397. We called them as soon as we looked at the amount on the check, and after a long conversation they finally offered to give us our gold back.
