Gold Pawnshop Review

These reviews are based on our personal experiences with the individual cash for gold companies and our rating reflects our feelings regarding our transactions with them. Your experience with the gold refiner/dealer may fare better or worse. But we always try to give the most accurate representation of what you are likely to find.

It is always a good idea to do your own research and find the company that works for you. We do these reviews because it is important for anyone looking to sell their gold to understand that very few online gold buyers will actually give you what your gold is worth. You would be surprised how many cash for gold businesses payout less than half the current price of gold. And not everyone has the time to properly look through and research the hundreds of gold buyers that are out there today. We hope these reviews will give you an idea of what to expect and will help you to make a wise decision.

GoldPawnShop.com is a Georgia based gold buyer that has been around since 2007. They have a BBB rating of A- although their accreditation expired in April. But they have had only 1 complaint through the Better Business Bureau. As a new gold buyer offering a “minimum of 5% more than our competition with absolutely no hidden fees or costs” we had to try them out.

On amounts over 1 ounce, their payscale is very similar to Empire Gold Buyers. If their site is up to date, they pay right under 90% for gold transactions between 1 and 3 ounces (which we were able to verify with our test transaction) and around 93-94% for amounts over that. Under one ounce we can’t be certain because our test was  just over 1.2 ounces and they don’t have any information available for transactions that small on their site. But they work on a graduated scale like most gold buyers so it will be less.

Gold Pawn Shop offers up to $1,000 in shipping insurance on their “Gold Express Pack”  which is pretty good compared to many online cash for gold companies but not quite the maximum that we’ve seen. You can expect a turn around time of 5-7 days which is fairly standard. They also give you 10 days to decide if you accept their offer. If you do decide to decline they will send you your gold back gratis.

Overall we were pretty pleased with our transaction with Gold Pawn Shop (although that Flash video that auto-plays on their site can be quite annoying) and would use them again if their payout was a bit higher. For now though we will stick with Empire Gold Buyers who offers the same service for more cash.

I would like to THANK YOU!!!!! with all my heart for providing this priceless site! I wish I had discovered you sooner. I was in a crisis and used the Gold Buying Center in Little Rock, AR and it was a total rip off though they claimed to be the best deal in town. I had never sold any gold and was in a pinch with no time to weigh my options and really no idea where to even start to search for information! HOW GRATEFUL I am to run across your site and to have access to such valuable basic instructions. THANK YOU! for helping us all for free. May God bless you for your work and heart! I will never make that mistake again. I am a single mom of three beautiful children and got laid off and sold a couple of pieces my mom had left me and seeing your chart didn’t even make a third of their value which would have helped us so much more. Thanks to you I will be a wiser educated client and won’t be ripped off again. My sincere gratitude and blessing to you and I will be sure to share your site continually. R.G.Jaffe

I sent off a few pieces of gold jewelry to Goldpawnshop.com after getting a very reasonable quote over the phone. I heard about them from the Today show where they said they got about 87% of it’s actual value. My quote was quite similar; however when I got the check about a week later it was only for 82%.

I have to say that I wasn’t that impressed but it doesn’t seem like they are trying to rip anyone off either.
