Sell Your Gold Review

*These reviews are based on our personal experiences with the individual cash for gold companies and our rating reflects our feelings regarding our transactions with them. Your experience with the gold refiner/dealer may fare better or worse. But we always try to give the most accurate representation of what you are likely to find.

It is always a good idea to do your own research and find the company that works for you. We do these reviews because it is important for anyone looking to sell their gold to understand that very few online gold buyers will actually give you what your gold is worth. You would be surprised how many cash for gold businesses payout less than half the current price of gold. And not everyone has the time to properly look through and research the hundreds of gold buyers that are out there today. We hope these reviews will give you an idea of what to expect and will help you to make a wise decision.

Overall:
As a company that has only been around for a few years, Sell Your Gold seems like just another of the many new gold buyers that continuously pop up in this growing field. But actually they are owned and operated by John Galt Refining which has over 50 years of gold buying experience. They have a very good reputation in the gold buying field with an A- rating from the BBB and have recently been featured on NBC’s Today Show as their #1 gold buyer.
Sell Your Gold offers a very competitive payout at around 90% for most transactions. One issue we have however is that their pay scale is not available on their site like some of the other gold buyers. They do give examples of previously completed transactions, but no exact number for what they will offer you is given until after they have the chance to appraise it since they are one of the few gold buyers that consider the retail value as well as look at the gold content of your items.
Their customer service options are pretty standard; they offer both a live chat option and a phone number where you can talk directly with a customer service agent. We tested out both options and were able to get through fairly quick each time. The customer service representatives were able to handle our questions and concerns just as well online as over the phone.
For a customer who wants their money quickly and safely, Sell Your Gold is very convenient. There are multiple ways you can have your order shipped, and payment received. You can take advantage of their proprietary online printer, which allows you to print your kit the same day. Or you can wait a few days for them to send you a secured, durable Tyvek envelop with a prepaid FedEx label. Their standard insurance covers your package for up to $1000, but upon request they will insure any package regardless of the amount which is one thing that we haven’t seen any other gold buyer offer.
One of the great things about Sell Your Gold is that the entire evaluation process is recorded so you can be with your gold from the beginning to the end. They also provide a tracking system on their website that keeps you updated on your order’s progress. And should you choose not to accept their offer, they will return your gold exactly the way you sent it to them.
