How To Sell Gold

SellGold.Com Review

 |  by Hal Young

*These reviews are based on our personal experiences with the individual cash for gold companies and our rating reflects our feelings regarding our transactions with them. Your experience with the gold refiner/dealer may fare better or worse. But we always try to give the most accurate representation of what you are likely to find.

It is always a good idea to do your own research and find the company that works for you. We do these reviews because it is important for anyone looking to sell their gold to understand that very few online gold buyers will actually give you what your gold is worth. You would be surprised how many cash for gold businesses payout less than half the current price of gold. And not everyone has the time to properly look through and research the hundreds of gold buyers that are out there today. We hope these reviews will give you an idea of what to expect and will help you to make a wise decision.

Overall:

Our review of SellGold.com and BrokenGold.com are going to be pretty similar because they are one and the same company. They actually own several other similar websites as well with a common trait: no prices listed on their site and no Better Business Bureau accreditation.

SellGold is another cash for gold site claiming to be “America’s #1 Gold Buyer”. But how many number 1 gold buyers can there really be? They buy all the normal items that most gold refiners do but they also buy silver and platinum. The thing is that you have no idea how much they actually pay until you physically send them your gold or other precious metals unless you have more than 10 troy ounces which no one but people in the business would have to sell at once.

You can’t find many reviews for SellGold.com and like with most gold refiners the few that you can find are fake promotions for their site. These guys go a step further though and made an entire site of fake reviews. Would a legitimate company really need to go through all that trouble?

But even with all those warning signs we decided to go ahead and send them a bit of scrap gold to see what they pay. We chose a relatively small amount (a broken 14k necklace, and a simple 18k wedding band – a total of around $260) as that is what the average person has to sell. They were fairly quick getting back to us (4 days) but we were not at all happy with what they decided to offer. The check was for $94. Obviously we declined and they did send us our gold back at least (some want to charge you for shipping or worse).

Overall if you’re doing your due diligence you should see from a mile away that there are much better options out there. I mean do you really want to go with a gold buyer that has to make an entire site of fake reviews to make themselves look better?
